What to expect and how to prepare for MeasureCamp DC

🎯 What is MeasureCamp?

MeasureCamp is an unconference – a participant-driven event where you create the agenda. Unlike traditional conferences with pre-planned keynotes and sponsor presentations, MeasureCamp is all about knowledge sharing between digital analytics practitioners.

When you arrive, you’re not a guest – you’re a participant. The schedule is created on the day by attendees, for attendees. You decide what you want to learn, teach, and discuss.

πŸ“‹ The Session Board

The heart of MeasureCamp is the Session Board – our collaborative scheduling system:

  • 8 time slots of 30 minutes each
  • 4-10 rooms of varying sizes available
  • Empty at the start – we fill it together!
  • Anyone can propose a session on any relevant topic

How it works: After the morning introduction, the Session Board opens. Simply write your topic on a sticky note and place it in an available time slot and room. That’s it – you’ve just created a session!

Session Format Ideas:

  • Traditional presentation – Slides and Q&A
  • Discussion – Facilitated group conversation
  • Workshop – Hands-on problem solving
  • Round table – Open conversation on a topic
  • Demonstration – Show a tool, technique, or solution
  • Case study – Share real-world experiences
  • Q&A session – “Ask me anything” format

Remember: Sessions can be technical or business-focused, for beginners or experts. The format is 100% flexible – be creative!

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ The Rule of Two Feet

Use your feet! If you find yourself in a session that’s too basic, too advanced, or not what you expected – simply leave and find another session that’s more valuable to you.

This isn’t rude – it’s encouraged! You’re responsible for maximizing your own learning experience. Session leaders understand this is part of the unconference format.

🎫 About Tickets

Free & Inclusive

  • Always free – MeasureCamp tickets will never cost money
  • Open to everyone in the digital analytics community
  • Company limit – Maximum 4 attendees per company to ensure diversity
  • Fair access – Ticket releases are staggered to give everyone a chance

Who Should Attend?

  • Digital analytics practitioners of all experience levels
  • Data scientists working with digital data
  • Marketing professionals using analytics
  • Product managers focused on data-driven decisions
  • Consultants and vendors – including competitors to sponsors

Note: Sales people and recruiters who can’t contribute to knowledge sharing are asked not to take tickets from practitioners who can add value.

🚫 No Selling Policy

MeasureCamp is about knowledge transfer, not sales. While business relationships naturally develop and deals may happen organically, aggressive selling and sales pitches are strongly discouraged.

Focus on value: Share how tools and services solve real problems in day-to-day work, rather than pushing products. Attendees will seek out solutions that genuinely help them.

Product demonstrations are welcome – but make them educational and valuable. Remember, attendees will vote with their feet if a session becomes too sales-focused!

πŸ• Food & Networking

MeasureCamp isn’t just about sessions:

  • Morning coffee & breakfast – Arrive early to network before sessions begin
  • Lunch provided – Great opportunity to continue conversations
  • Snacks & drinks – Keep your energy up throughout the day
  • After-party – Continue networking in a relaxed setting

Pro tip: Some of the best learning happens during breaks! Don’t rush between sessions – take time to chat with fellow attendees.
